Ideaslab on the new maritime security strategy of the UK

Following up on our work with the UK government on refreshing the maritime security strategy, SafeSeas organized a one day workshop discussing the challenges linked to implementing the strategy. The workshop was organized in partnership with the University of Bristol, the UK Department of Transport and Joint Maritime Security Centre. The event was held under Chatham House rules and brought together key representatives of the UK maritime security community as well as a range of university based experts.

The main themes discussed included how the maritime security strategy can be implemented, how the network established in the making of the strategy can be preserved and how the UK can take a forward looking approach to deal with issues, such as climate change. A summary with policy recommendations is the key output of the event.
